Is it worth keeping on for adapted screenplay considering how weak some of the competition is?
I still find the overwhelming hate for Green Book is dumb.
You are one of my favorite youtubers. I always look forward to your reviews and especially the Oscar videos. I love hearing you guys talk. Hope you guys get bigger!
Zac Efron is botched. He should just be honest. He out here looking like Jennifer Coolidge.
Great Review as always, but thanks mostly for the honest eye, its gross the way crítics are positioning to Destroy Farrely's films from now on and with that his chances to keep working, and for what? Because they thought GreenBook shloudnt have Won best picture? Or because the film's approach on ending racism? Their attitude makes it seems the film is a Nazi propaganda film instead and the director should be arrested. Man, i cant begin to say how smallminded and childish of an attitude this is. But thankfully, we have voices like yours Cole, keep on with the good work and that honesty!
My issue with the film was actually that for the absurdity of the premise (even if it is a true story), it wasn't fun enough. One of the reasons why I think Green Book works (I don't think it should have won Best Picture, but for what it is, I still think it works) is that it leans more into the lighthearted polar opposite buddy comedy tone that seems a good fit for Peter Farrelly. It was still rather earnest, but it mixed well enough with the comedy that it managed to be moving. In this one, the earnestness gets overbearing at times, and while I do get that it's the Vietnam War, there have been comedies set in the Vietnam War that mange to balance silly and earnest (the first example that comes to mind for me is Good Morning Vietnam).
That said, I do think Zac Efron is very good in this, and he makes enough of it works that I would still recommend giving it a look when it drops on AppleTV, and I always like seeing Russell Crowe pop up in something (and this part feels suited for him).
Also, thank you to Justin for the ticket to see this movie.
Looks mid
did you saw tàr?
any potential for russel crowe in supporting?
After all the awards contenders I expected to be great and turned out to underwhelm…
Comes an awards contender I expected to underwhelm and it actually underwhelmed.
It's Born on the Fourth of July with beers and hijinks!
Sounds like the worst movie concept of the year!
Loving that shirt!
Are you going to talk about Williams going lead?
Appreciate the review. I was going to avoid since reviews made it sound like a trainwreck but this sounds like the solid family film I wanted for holiday break later this year.
Critics still triggered about Green Book? LOL.
Sometimes I just want harmless predictable warm movies.
I love how honest and unbiased your reviews are!
we all say "everyone knows this about vietnam"….. many still don't. It's a nice reminder of how nuts vietnam was and how war has never looked the same since becoming fully institutionalized
You need to lighten up. It’s a movie that trying to give us something to laugh about for a change. Being a little over critical of a feel good movie.
Fun story Monday night I have regal where I live they did this fun Monday mystery movie night which is something I haven't seen before so I had to take advantage so I get to the theater just wondering what it could be and so the movie starts and by the end I really enjoyed it a lot and I had a good audience that seemed to like it also
Take it easy, its something to watch on a Saturday, thx for the review though
I get what you said about what this is for, its to tell true story not to change peoples minds
Well said. It is a 6/10 for me, as well. There is nothing so reprehensible about it to warrant the critical bashing it has received.
Kinda like the US war in Ukraine in wrong and broken, like Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, etc, etc…… eceteraaaaaaahhhhhhh <sigh> Seems like there's a theme.
That film talk true and what going behind scene amd what going to world and how the media influemce by to hide or promoting something. Two soldier die and people made him angry but how many childern, mother, old people, homes Dead amd destruct no one knows that is not problem of people but murder of politician made this.
It is a good movie based on a true story so how can it be considered a silly concept. It actually happened. The reviews it is getting from mainstream critics are not honest nor fair. All because the main character didn't become a leftist loon attacking America or present any of a laundry list of supported ideological view points after what he went through. That is their actual issue with the movie. If you are not pushing an aggressive socialist, woke or victim based narrative in line with what the mainstream critics are espousing these days. They will run with their belief that viewers still care what they think or say enough to stop you from seeing the film. The protesters at that time did not support the troops and treated them very poorly because of socialist indoctrination and they didn't deserve it. Like this movie doesn't deserve what is said about it by mealy mouthed, politicized critics who prostitute themselves to causes.
You say the time for this movie is far gone, but having watched it in Russia 2022 I can say it's so fucking relatable right now in the times when Putler has his own 'Vietnam war' and half of the country support his war crimes because they see nothing more than aggressive TV propaganda 24/7
You ask who's this movie made for and I say for every citizen of this damn country right now
I thought it was going to ne some dumb comedy like beerfeet or the hangover. I was surprised finding out it was based on a true story and it was dramatic. The story was top notch and very clever acting like the cia and stuff. I lived in vietnam for 2 years so these kind of movie intrigue me more than others
